We had our first adoption January 1st 2024, and on December 31, we finished the year off with our 50th adoption!
For being strictly foster based, we are very proud of the number of adoptions we accomplished in our first year! We are extremely thankful to our foster families that made this possible.
We also became a registered charity earlier in the year.
We had 4 successful adoption events, helped network with other rescues, and took part on some community involvement and fundraisers
Some of 2024 Highlights
Penelope Beatrice & Jaye
Our P B & J liter were found by a concerned citizen; they had been dumped in a field near Vermilion in November 2024. We were contacted and took them in as an emergency intake, as there was nowhere else for them to go, and they would not survive the freezing temperatures.
Midnight
EMS in Onion Lake reached out with an urgent plea to help with a dog. The EMS had spent months gaining Midnight’s trust. They noticed that she may be pregnant and winter was coming, Midnight did not have a home or shelter.
Midnight was ready to be rescued and find her purpose. Upon intake we were able to confirm she was newly pregnant, she was full of fleas but otherwise we was decently healthy (we have Onion Lake EMS to thank for helping out!).
After her appointment with South Side Animal Hospital, an informed decision was made to perform a spay abort, to prevent Midnight from having to go through pregnancy and preventing another 9 large breed puppies from entering an already overpopulated area. Midnight thrived and was adopted once she was recovered.
Domestic Violence Assistance
We received an urgent call from a woman in desperate need of assistance of a litter of 8 puppies and their mama.
The lady was living with the mama and pups with an extremely volatile partner. We want to respect their privacy and will not go I into details, but it was not a good situation, for the ladies or the dogs. Even though we were over capacity with our current foster availability, We agreed to take them in and made an urgent plea to our community members to step up to foster. With hard work and determination we were able to find fosters for all 8 puppies and their severely matted and abused mama.
Once the dogs were safely removed from the situation, the lady was able execute her own escape plan and is now in a safe environment.
Loving Feedback & Updates
Fabio
Pets Purpose Animal Shelter was excellent! We were so thrilled to have our pup. He is the sweetest, biggest lil cuddler I’ve ever known! The rescue checked our references provided, met us for a meet and greet to make sure our other dog was happy with our choice. The pup’s shots were all up to date and the adoption fee included the neuter costs that would be done once he reached the correct age for the procedure.
Top notch!! Highly recommend.

Atlas (a.k.a. Tiny)
We have renamed the sweet Tiny to Atlas. In mythology Atlas is a Titan who is often associated with strength and holding the weight of the world on his shoulders. We thought it was fitting, and in a weeks time he responds to it.
Atlas has fit into the pack perfectly this past week. He is slowly showing his playful character and taking a whole lot of naps.
He likes his solitude and will usually nap on his own, but him and my oldest Athena have been caught snuggling a time or two.
Atlas has also learned to howl…mine have always done it once a day when they miss us and Atlas agreeably joins right in! Lol I can speak to him through my camera and he knows it’s my voice but can’t find where it is coming from so he searches the house while huffing.
Atlas is the perfect edition to the family and fits right in with his brother and sisters.
