Ned
Date of Birth: October 01, 2023
Gender: Male
Breed: Great Pyrenees Mix
You may have been following Ned's story. He showed up a wonderful family's home in June. He had been wandering around Kitscoty for awhile, he seemed to settle at their place for a bit but we eventually moved him to our place to give him a large fenced space to enjoy.
Ned is incredibly sweet but is afraid of humans, there could be many reasons but it may simply be that he hasn't had many positive interactions with people.
So, we are working on building his trust by allowing him to choose when he interacts with us.
At first he kept his distance, but we have made amazing progress with him.
He is excited to see us walking towards his enclosure, he will bounce around, play bow, and gives out a little awooo as we get closer to him.
Ned is great with cats that don't run (unsure of cats that run), he LOVES other dogs and is happiest lounging or playing with them. Other dogs help build his confidence and are teaching him that humans can mean great things happen. Ned is in a dog boarding environment and has settled in, uses a dog door, he is comfortable here. He has been spending more time in the house and has enjoyed the comforts of the home environment.
Ned is on medication to help with anxiety and it has made an huge difference, he will now take treats from our hands, and we have even been lucky enough to pet this sweet pup!!
He doesn't mess inside, he is on a sensitive stomach dog food and doing great.
The ideal home for Ned will be a home with another friendly dog or more, the more the merrier! A large fenced yard or an acreage with a large fenced space for him, with access to inside as he is very scared outside at night. Ned needs people who will let him learn to trust them at his own pace, this is crucial and cannot be forced, as it will cause him to shut down.
While Ned needs a very special home, but with the right people when that happens those folks will know how truly special it is to build the trust of a dog like Ned!
Working with Ned has been amazing, there have been many happy tears over the last month and half. We adore this dog and can't wait to see what his future holds.
Ned is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.
