Bucky is a 3 month old male Shepherd Mix. He was found in a community following a pack of adult dogs with no Mom & no littermates. Community members were asked and said that he didn’t belong to anyone and that the teenagers who found him could take him. Within hours of being rescued he became extremely ill and was diagnosed with Parvo and hospitalized for days. This is extremely distressing because anyone who has been involved with dog rescue knows that parvovirus can easily be a death sentence. The veterinarian asked about littermates but when he heard the story, he indicated that Bucky’s littermates may have succumbed to the illness. Had the teenagers not intervened, Bucky's story would have ended with him suffering, cold and alone on the street.
Bucky was a frail little skeleton with hair when he arrived back at his foster home. He had no appetite and they had to serve him frequent tiny helpings of chicken and then beef until he could finally tolerate kibble and canned puppy food. He was so lethargic that he would just walk a short distance and flop on the floor.
Today Bucky is vibrant and playful and has character. He follows his foster mom from room to room, grunts and groans with every little movement, pounces on toys and does it all with a wagging, happy tail! He is rapidly gaining weight and growing and his big paws indicate that he may be a fairly big boy!
He is fostered with dogs, cats, livestock and teenagers and does well with all!
Bucky is a true survivor and we want nothing more than for him to spend the second chance he was given in his forever home
