Ryley is a 6 month old Female Anatolian Shepherd Mix that was adopted in October, but returned a few months later due to no fault of her own (Allergies and she grew too big).
She is large and in charge and has lots more growing left to do, so will be XL once fully grown. If you're NOT looking for a BBW (Big Beautiful Woof), keep scrolling!
She is great with other dogs of all sizes, and is figuring out cats. She can't understand why they don't like her. She has BIG puppy energy and she doesn't seem to realize her size and would love to be a lap dog. She loves to play with toys and her favorite place to be is perched on the back of the couch like she is an oversized cat.
She is house trained and will let you know when she needs to go out and will knock on the door when she is ready to come back in.
Her previous owner said her leash training needs some work. She is quite strong and can pull a bit, but walking her with a harness may be a solution. She was taken out to a pet store today to pick out some goodies and she walked really well and didn't pull at all. She traveled well in the vehicle and sat quietly in the back seat. She enjoyed meeting new people and was shy at first, but once she realized making new friends = treats, she was happy to oblige!
She does not like being in a kennel so she will be working on her kennel training. Her first night she sang the saddest song ever so her foster mom had a sleepover on the couch with her while she adjusted to her new surroundings. Today she spent an hour in her kennel and did really well! So far she has been respectful in the house and hasn't shown any destructive behaviors.
She has been eating with a slow feeder bowl and will sit and wait to eat until you tell her it's OK.
Like any new dog, she will need an adjustment period as she's had lots of changes with losing her home and settling into new environments and routines.
She will be ready to go after her spay on February 4th.
